Restaurant Shop
The Restaurant Shop is just like the catering shop, but instead, we list the hotel’s restaurant names, meal descriptions, and prices. This shop helps in evaluating which menu items are the most popular and are contributing the most to the hotel revenue, as well as the sales data to determine which items are underperforming.
Additionally, it will help in understanding customer preferences and how they align with different menu items. This shop goes hand in hand with other shops such as the room rental shop because things like hotel price data can play a crucial role in understanding the restaurant’s performance, since the cost of hotel accommodations can directly affect dining patterns and preferences.
A typical shop will include specific menu items such as coffee by the cup, various beverage options, continental, buffet (if available), and plated breakfast options with details and pricing. Also, plated lunch options, broken down by sandwiches, burgers, and entrees, and all dinner variations from light, and heart-healthy to steak and seafood. Any a la carte details will also be added to the report.
There is a comments section where details of the conversation with the onsite restaurants are recorded. If we are not able to get all the information during the first call, we will note how many calls it takes to complete the task. We also note if our agents run into any difficulties with the staff we spoke with. If there are any special notes, such as taxes and gratuities added to the bill, those will be included in the comments section of the report as well.
To complete the shop, a call is made to the onsite restaurant(s) of the hotel, where our agent asks for the average prices of the specific items that you have listed on the order sheet. The information is recorded on an Excel spreadsheet. While on the phone with the restaurant, we always ask for copies of any menus that they can provide to us. These menus are passed along to you when we email the report.
Some smaller boutique hotels, as well as limited-service locations, may not offer onsite dining, and if that is the case, we will make note of it in the report. The base pricing for this hotel report will include 5 of your competitor hotels, and any additional hotel can be requested for an additional fee.
The turnaround time is typically two to three weeks; however, if it is completed quicker than that we will email it immediately.
